Your NACA next steps
The single most important thing is to start: NACA's workshop and your savings history both take time, and that clock runs no matter when you plan to buy.
Sign up for NACA's free Homebuyer Workshop
It's NACA's required first step. When you finish it, you get your NACA ID and access to the Member Portal.
- Go to naca.com and click Take Your First Step.
- Click Get started with a workshop.
- Under Workshop Type, choose On-line (self-paced, you can start tonight) or In-person (search your ZIP; the Richmond office is at 1600 Brook Rd, Suite C). Either one counts.
- Fill in the form. It asks for the last 4 digits of your SSN, so have them ready. That goes to NACA on NACA's own form, never to me.
Want me as your agent? Add me on that form
Set Work With An Agent to Yes, and an Agent Name box appears. Type Martin Kurylowski (K-U-R-Y-L-O-W-S-K-I). It works the same on the online and in-person forms.

Completely optional. You're free to work with any agent, or none.
Start these this week
- Save your “payment shock” every month: the gap between your rent and your future mortgage payment. Consistency matters more than size.
- Pull your free credit reports at annualcreditreport.com and list every monthly debt payment.
- Start one folder with your last two W-2s and tax returns, recent pay stubs and 90 days of bank statements, saved as PDFs.
- Hold off on new debt: no new cards, car loans or financed furniture until you close.
The NACA Roadmap (PDF) has the full checklist and all ten steps.
Text me your NACA ID
Once you have it, send it to me at 804-707-5668 and I'll help you plan the rest: the savings target, the timeline, and when to start looking at homes.
Independent educational session. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA). Program terms, rates and eligibility are set by NACA, can change, and not every applicant qualifies.
